Lady Palm is best suited for use in partial shade, where the leaves remain dark and shiny green. In full sun, leaves tend to yellow and will burn if the roots are allowed to become to dry. Lady Palm makes a very effective low screen, but is equally effective as a single specimen shrub (though removal of stems may be necessary in time to keep the pland in bounds). Well-grown leaves in good condition will clothe the matted stems almost ot the base; these can be trimmed up to accent the interesting slender stems. Lady Palm has enjoyed great success as an interior plant, and can be maintained in a container for some time. The variegated forms, so popular in Japan, fetch very high prices.
